Understanding Premarital Agreement Reviews in Arizona

If you’re engaged and considering a prenuptial agreement, known in Arizona as a premarital agreement, you may be wondering: “How much should a prenup review cost?”

At our firm, we believe in practical, transparent pricing. A thorough review typically costs the equivalent of two to three hours of attorney time, depending on the complexity of the agreement and how familiar we are with the agreement’s template. We are usually happy to “flat fee” prenup reviews in the range of two to three hours of attorney time.

If we’ve reviewed similar prenups before, especially from attorneys or firms we’ve worked with, the process is often more efficient and falls on the lower end of the range. On the other hand, if the prenup is unfamiliar to us, contains complex provisions, or the process includes extended negotiations, the review is likely to take longer. Our Firm then may require hourly rates, which can get expensive, depending on the client’s own efficiency in the process.

Usually, fees for recording evidence of the prenup or for a court reporter are not included: those are out-of-pocket costs

What You Can Expect from the Review

Our role is to provide clear feedback on key provisions, offer legal context under Arizona law, and suggest areas that may need clarification or revision. However, it’s important to understand that you are responsible for reading the agreement carefully, discussing it with your fiancé, and identifying any points that need to be worked out between you. Once you’ve reached consensus, the attorneys for both fiancés can help translate those agreements into legally sound language.

What This Means for You

A premarital agreement is a smart way to protect both parties and clarify expectations. A thoughtful review ensures your document reflects your intentions and complies with Arizona law without unnecessary expense. Client efficiency in negotiations and the attorney’s familiarity with the template agreement will help reduce your legal costs.

If you’re ready to have your prenup reviewed, or just starting the conversation, we’re here to help.
