Lewis Labadie is a compassionate firm. Although we need to operate our business, we do not want to take food off your table. We understand the needs of our community. This includes that often people who need legal help cannot afford the cost. We strive to provide affordable legal representation without taking away competent legal services. To further assist, we offer several payment options, like payment plans and flat fees.
Payment Plans
Our office offers payment plans for many of our cases. The length and amount of the payment plan varies depending on the type of case. Normally, we ask that payments are completed by the time your case is final and/or that a certain percentage is paid prior to work starting. Contact us to discuss options available for payment plans in your case. We will do our best to work with you.
Financing
If a client cannot afford the payment plan or flat fees, we have more options. We work with a legal fee financing company that can help with automated installments. Often these installments are offered for longer terms, which may make the payment amount more affordable.
Flat Fees
Our flat fees are competitive. Flat fees are offered for a part of a case (service) or for the entire case. These flat fees keep it simple and clear for our clients. No surprise bills. No hourly rates.
For example, an uncontested divorce or other family law case will include preparation of the petition, a waiver of service, and decree offered for one flat fee. You can learn more about our family law services here.
Another example is a simple estate plan that includes a will with two powers of attorney for one flat fee. You can learn more about our estate planning services here.
We also offer most adoptions cases at a flat fee. Our experienced team knows how much time it will take to accomplish your case and keep your costs down. You can learn more about our adoption services here.
Lower Hourly Rates
We have a few ways to offer lower hourly rates.
First, is using our Legal Paraprofessional. An LP can offer lower rates than attorneys. Affordability was one of the public policy goals in creating this profession. Unknown to many, LPs can represent clients the same as an attorney, including providing legal advice and representation. There is no reason to hire an attorney for twice the hourly rate when you can get the same service from an experienced LP.
Another way is offered to our business and corporate clients. We offer a lower hourly rate when we act as general counsel for your company. The normal discount is 25% reduction but is open for discussion based on the needs of the client. This flexibility is due to businesses having ongoing needs for legal services, whereas, most other areas of law are focused on one issue or event.
We offer a fixed fee to act as a statutory agent. Here is a link to find out more about our business law practice.
