Why choose your family law case to be handled by a Legal Paraprofessional (LP)?

In 2021, Arizona created a new role for non-attorneys called Legal Paraprofessionals or LP to assist clients in obtaining representation for their family law cases, at a lower cost because many people do not have the resources to pay an attorney to represent them and there needed to be another option. An LP is comparable to an attorney just as a nurse practitioner is to a doctor. They can give legal advice, appear in court, and clients are still bound by the same attorney-client privilege.

Our legal paraprofessional, Amber Labadie, was one of the first to receive an LP license in Arizona in 2021. She currently holds a family law certification allowing her to represent clients in any family law matter.

An LP may be cost-effective, but many have been handling family law for at least seven years in order to be licensed and no degree is needed if they have the experience. They can also get licensed through a college or university, but then need to work to learn the ins and outs of family law. Amber has worked in law firms her entire adult life and has the experience necessary to handle any family law case that comes along.

Amber’s hourly rate and flat fees are cost-effective, and she has been told time and time again that her fees are less expensive than some other law firms they have consulted. Amber is knowledgeable and dedicated to assist those clients who need representation at a lower cost and potentially in an uncontested manner where both parties get to agree on how their case resolves, whether it is in an uncontested divorce or paternity case or a simple stipulation to modify the terms of their previous orders, like parenting time or child support. An uncontested matter can be handled efficiently, amicably and by a flat fee. A contested case, where the parties do not agree, can still be handled cost-efficiently; but a retainer would be required. She can also assist in document preparation to assist you in handling your own contested case, that would not include any court appearances or her name on the court docket.
